Application of human iPS cells for drug discovery

Human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) possess ability to differentiate into various tissues and organs. Therefore, it is expected that hiPSCs can be applied in disease modeling, drug discovery and regenerative cell therapy. For drug discovery, clinical predictability may improve drastically by the technology of hiPSCs , because various pharmacological, pharmacokinetic and toxicological studies in hardly-available human tissues could be tested on a routine basis.
In this session, the approach of Shionogi forward the practical utilities of hiPSCs for drug discovery will be discussed.
